There are at least 11,000 known bird species across the planet and just as wide a variety of colors, sizes and shapes. As seen in the image above of the Rainbow Lorkeet, many birds carry intense and vibrant beauty across their feathers. Birds are a group of maniraptoran theropod dinosaurs with origins dating back at least 66 million years. They've had at least this much time to continue to evolve into some of the amazing species we see today.
