Amid successive energy blackouts, frustration grows in cut-off Cuba

Some Cubans stood on balconies on August 3, banging pots and pans, to make their frustration known after the sixth nationwide power outage of the year. The national grid had begun to restore electricity across the island when adverse weather conditions caused a second collapse. Successive outages lead to food spoiling, are causing the supply of treated drinking water to dwindle and are compromising public services.
