Part 4 of 4 in the series: Wireless and Wired IP Camera Exposure
The first three parts moved from finding cameras, to reading what an exposed endpoint reveals, to looking inside the device itself. Each one ended at the same door: a thing that might be a weakness, waiting to be proven one way or the other.
This part walks through that door. The final step is validation.
Finding an RTSP service doesn't tell you the stream is accessible. An authentication prompt doesn't tell you the credentials are weak. A tool reporting a camera doesn't tell you it's vulnerable. So for the finale, I put that distinction on the bench and tested it with Cameradar against a camera in my own environment.
Where Cameradar fits
Cameradar is built to assess RTSP-enabled camera infrastructure. It discovers RTSP services, identifies stream paths, detects authentication methods and tests supplied or candidate credentials. That makes it useful for both discovery and validation, but its real value here comes af
