A day after being sworn in as president, Abelardo de la Espriella is facing two bombing attacks in Colombia. He campaigned on a hard-line approach to the country’s ongoing violence and vowed on social media that there would be no leniency. The army says FARC dissidents used explosives to destroy a highway tollbooth near Cali, while a police officer was killed in a separate attack around 1,000 kilometres away in the northern department of Cesar.
