Myanmar's pro-army parliament on Friday elected Senior General Min Aung Hlaing as president days after he relinquished his top military post, as required by the constitution, to the country's former spymaster. Min Aung Hlaing, the leader of the 2021 coup, was elected after an electoral process dismissed as civilian window dressing by monitoring groups.
