This blog post is adapted from a blog I wrote at work - it focusses on AI usage in a work setting, particularly from my perspective as a software engineer.
Introduction
How do you feel about ‘AI’ (by which I mean LLMs[1] in this blogpost) - are you using it a lot on a daily basis, both for work and for personal everyday tasks? Or are you skeptical of its negative impact and have resolved not to touch it with a barge pole?
I'm somewhere in the middle, I was initially hesitant to use AI but now I'm using it most days for work - not least the fact that my team recently attended a Snowflake conference that centred all around AI (and I got my own teddy of the Snowflake polar bear!).
To clarify, I can't (and don't want to) dictate if you should feel guilty, I just wanted an enticing title (which I shamelessly stole from a tech Youtuber I follow, AlbertaTech[2]). But I would like to explore some problematic areas around AI, and help us consider how we use it - particularly
