Venezuelan human rights activist Javier Tarazona was released after more than four years in a Caracas prison as part of a government amnesty for political detainees. His release came following pressure from the US after last month’s removal of Nicolás Maduro. Dozens of other political prisoners have been freed under the initiative, though hundreds remain behind bars.
